About Kees

Kees has varied background ranging from 3rd dan black belt in Kyokushin Kai karate; member of 1970 US team to First World Championships in Tokyo.Learned Olympic lifting and strength training under Don Buck and helped teach Karate while at UCB 1969-1971.Later switched to trying endurance training and has run 64 marathons with a 2:40:28 best/1:14:45 halfM/ 55:30 10M/ 33:58 10K/16:11 5K, some 84,000 miles logged. Started Tamalpa Runners in 1976 and has enjoyed coaching through group workouts. He's always learning and recently took up kettlebell training and helping with strength training for his women's group...
